  • Why is my battery light on?
The battery light usually means your charging system isn't keeping the battery charged, often due to a failing alternator, a loose or worn belt, or corroded battery connections. It can also be a faulty battery, a blown fuse, or a wiring issue.
  • How do I test an alternator?
You can test an alternator with a multimeter by checking battery voltage with the engine off and running, or by using a dedicated alternator tester. A healthy alternator should produce 13.5 to 14.5 volts at the battery when the engine is running.
